Kratasol FLOWCAST NP
Areas of use
Kratasol FLOWCAST NP is a base for super water-reducing and superplasticizing additives used in the production of high-strength concrete and high-flow mixtures. Kratasol FLOWCAST NP can be used as a base additive for the production of reinforced concrete products and structures due to its high water-reducing effect. Kratasol FLOWCAST NP can be used as a water-reducing component for the production of additives for ready-mixed concrete. Kratasol FLOWCAST NP is a highly effective additive for the production of self - compacting concrete.
Advantages
- High water-reducing effect - from 20 to 40% (depending on the applied dosage of the additive);
- High plasticizing effect - an increase in the precipitation of the concrete mix cone from 40 to 21-240 mm at a low dosage (in most cases, 0.12 ÷ 0.18% of the cement mass in terms of dry matter);
- Provides high values of early and final strength;
- Allows to significantly save thermal energy in the production of reinforced concrete products;
- Good compatibility with cements of various chemical-mineralogical composition
Recommendations for application
Kartasol FLOWCAST NP is produced as a concentrated aqueous solution (50% wt.). It is recommended for use in the production of a solution of a lower concentration (20-30%) to ensure the accuracy of dosing of the additive. If stored for a long time, it is recommended to take measures to prevent bioinfection. The use of defoamers is recommended to control the volume of air entrained in the concrete mix. If it is necessary to improve the preservation of the mobility of the concrete mixture, it is recommended to use Kratasol Flowcast NP together with polycarboxylates, which regulate the preservation of the mobility of the concrete mixture (Kratasol FLOWRET). The ratio between Kratasol Flowcast NP and Kratasol FLOWRET is selected during laboratory selections, depending on the materials used and the required time to save the mobility of the concrete mix. If it is necessary to further increase the frost resistance of concrete, the joint use of Kratasol FLOWCAST NP and Aeromix is recommended.
Kratasol Flowcast is introduced into the concrete mixture together with mixing water, preferably with the last third of the mixing water. Do not add to the dry mix. After adding the additive to the concrete mix, it is necessary to ensure a sufficient mixing time for a uniform distribution of the additive in the concrete mix.

Dosage
The recommended dosage of the additive is 0.12 ÷ 0.22% by dry matter of the cement mass (to ensure a water reduction effect of more than 20%). The range of recommended dosage supplements can be extended. The optimum dosage of the additive is established during laboratory selection. To achieve the required technological and economic effect, it is recommended to avoid overdose of the additive.
The dosage of the additive depends on:
- chemical-mineralogical composition of cement;
- quality of the fillers used (content of silty, clay, etc.);
- type of the produced concrete mixture and its formulation.
The optimum dosage of the additive is established during laboratory selection. At the same time, the concrete composition is selected in accordance with GOST 27006 by any method that meets the design requirements for concrete and concrete mix, with subsequent adjustment of properties by reducing water consumption and optimizing the dosage of the additive. It is recommended to dispense with an error of not more than ± 2%. In the case of long-term storage or use of large amounts of additives, periodic homogenization of the additive solution by bubbling with compressed air or stirring is necessary.
Transportation
Transportation must be carried out at a temperature not less than + 10C and not more than + 30C. Store at a temperature of +10C ÷ +30C in a closed container. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight. Containers with products must be kept away from heating devices. If the recommended storage conditions are violated, a change in the physical, chemical and consumer properties of the product may occur. Compliance with the recommended conditions allows the additive to be stored for 12 months from the date of manufacture. In the case of the freezing of an aqueous solution of the additive after thawing at room temperature (without using forced heating) and homogenization, the product can be used in accordance with the recommendations.
Storage
Store at a temperature of + 15 ÷ + 30 о С in a closed container. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight, freezing. If the recommended storage conditions are violated, a change in the physical, chemical and consumer properties of the product may occur. Observance of the recommended conditions allows storing the additive within 12 months from the date of manufacture. In the case of the freezing of an aqueous solution of the additive after thawing at room temperature and homogenization, Kratasol Flowcast NP can be used in accordance with the recommendations.
Precautionary measures
It is recommended to use protective gloves when working with the additive. If the product gets on your skin, wash it off with soap and water. Avoid contact with eyes. In case of contact with eyes, rinse immediately with plenty of water and seek medical advice. Dispose of the additive according to local regulations, do not pour into the soil, water, sewerage.
Recommendations for the use of the additive are presented on the basis of the available practical experience with proper storage and use.
